2000 Chevy Cavalier engine quit and won't start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm not the best with cars but I will try to
explain as best I can. Just last week I put a
new alternator and fuel filter in and got an
oil change. I was driving on the freeway
when i felt a small bang (thought i blew a
tire but didn't) and the car just quit. I
noticed when i pulled over the oil light came
on. I have power but the car won't turn over.
I have no clue what's wrong. The bang I felt
worries me but any tips on what to look for
would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you blew the motor. check the oil level see if it still has oil in it. get a socket and ratchet and try to turn the harmonic balencer. if it does not turn the motor is locked up.
