I have a 2000 caviler changed the radiator and now
it won't start and there is a smell of gas in my
overflow container

Would do a pressure test on coolant system (leak down test). Hope this is not a head gasket issue. Good Luck!

pull the oil fill cap and look under it, tell us what youi see , a compression test will show if it's a blown head gasket , which is what I think you have
