Where can I locate the relay for the security system

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car was running fine til I had to replace the radio. Now it will run for a few days then go
dead. We replaced the battery and it still happens. Some one  told us it could be a relay
on the security system. So Im Trying to find out where it is so i can check it

If this did not happen before you replaced the radio, then that is the place to start troubleshooting. Double check your wiring for the wire that prevents the radio from being turned on with the ignition OFF (usually blue). Also, review your radio wiring instructions for any wiring connection into your car's security system or power antenna and check them for both a proper and tight connection as well as any potention for a short to ground like a frayed wire at a new connection. If you find everything is OK then pursue the security relay (I do not know where this would be located in your car). Something is obviously draining your battery when you think the car is completely OFF. You can also try pulling the radio fuse and see if this eliminates the problem - again pointing to an installation problem.

Make sure you are turning the key OFF and not past to ACC - this happened to me and haven't had the problem since I figured out I was going past OFF (This happened the 1st few days I owned the van)
