Won't start

Asked by Sharon Red Mar 22, 2016 at 03:29 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS 2-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 Blazer that won't start in the mornings. The mechanic has
replaced the distributor, rotor button, coil, spark plug wires. The only way it
will start is for him to spray starting fluid in the intake after he does that it
will run and start anytime you try to start it that day. He said that 2 of the
cylinders was missing and he did a pressurized cleaning, after he did that
he said that the one cylinder is at 100% but the other is 50% better than
what it was. I also smell gas even after it has sit all night. Any idea what it
could be, I believe he's just doing trial and error now and I really cannot
afford for him to replace things that don't need replace.

Your mechanic has changed everything to do with spark but it takes a fuel to start it. So where should we look, I say start with the fuel pump that delivers the fuel to the engine. These fuel pump can get costly and they get very hot in the tanks. The only thing to keep them cool is the fuel itself the more fuel , the more the heat is disapated. Run low on fuel all the time you burn out the fuel pump. If it is a fuel issue get a new mechanic.

If you smell gas after it sitting you may also have a fuel line starting to go bad which would loose pressure in the fuel system over nite.
