Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How do you know when your fan clutch is bad. Im
hearing a funny clunking sound when the car is
running definitely not a rod knock or anything, I
thought it might possibly be the fan clutch.

1 Answer

When fans clutches goes bad there are two main things that happen. The fans stays on all the time or won't engage. Try listening to the noise with the engine on and the hood open. With the engine OFF try wiggling the fan blade to see it it is loose or wobbly.
