So auto zone is saying I need a whole new a.c but
from doing some research I found out I could just
replace the bearings. Is this true or do I need a
whole new a.c. compressor?

Its hard to remove the bearing unless you have the proper tool (s). But it can be done, dont bang, prey or pull...

Its easier to replace it. Don't try to fix it, like the above person said since you don't have any tools or a compression machine to. Press in the Lully's. Besides a new ac unit has warranties and its better to let a professional handle it. I wouldn'tmess with it if was my car! To much to bother with.
