Clean the throttle body and intake sensors, make sure the IAC, PCV, and EGR are all clean, and EGR is working properly. The throttle position sensor may also be faulty. If all engine components check out okay, problem may be something like a torque converter clutch locking up early, which can stall an engine. (At high RPMs/overdrive a TC will lock up to provide 100% engine power to transmission, at lower RPMs some degree of slippage is permitted.)
