I have two problems with my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4.7 Liter truck. First, my truck shakes really bad accelerating and breaking when I'm going 60 mph or more. Also loud clicking in front when I stop.

Asked by jamonetaylor Sep 14, 2014 at 03:35 PM about the 2006 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I get up to 60 mph on freeway my truck shakes violently, it also shakes when I
turn to the left or right on the freeway. The truck shakes even more when I try to stop
at that speed. I've replaced both front wheel hub assemblies. However, truck continues
to shake.

The clicking coming from the front of my truck only happens when I come to a stop.
Other than that I never hear the clicking. Please educate me and let me know what
parts are causing these problems. Thank you for taking the time to read my question.
Have a good day.

Suspension components for sure, but 100 percent your front brake discs are warped also replace the pads as well or the problem will still be there

Thanks for the quick replies. The wheel bearing hub assembly is what was replaced on the truck. The part was only $119.00 each at Auto Zone. I just made my last payment and all this stuff starts going wrong. I'm going to teach myself to work on my truck and I will start with replacing the rotors and break pads on all 4 tires. What is the average cost for a professional to replace those u joints in the drive shaft?

This is a 2 wheel drive..right? If not, the steering knuckles aka u-joints on the front axle don't apply to this,,but one ordinary U-joint on a driveshaft front or rear can be replaced in less than a half-hour, if the mechanic is slow.. the part is about $10--$15 tops. probably less. I have a 1976 with 6 of them and have done them so many times I can do it in 15 minutes each

If you do happen to find a bad u-joint, it's easy to tell..they flop around, a word of caution. You have to take the caps off the ends. Make sure there is grease in there, but not TOO much, and see that none of the bearing needle pins fall over on the bottom or it won't fit in shaft. When done, give it a shot of grease on the zerk.
