2006 dodge ram 1500 engine problem

Asked by cowboy9127 May 19, 2018 at 09:11 AM about the 2006 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie Quad Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

50/50 yellow engine symbol on dash
may appear when started. Once I
accelerate like to pass someone or
merge onto highway, it will make one
ding sound and light will appear or if
already on, it'll blink and ding and
sometimes ding and blink multiple
times until a certain speed is
reached then stop dinging but light
still on. Also, while this happens it
takes forever to accelerate. But,
sometimes light maybe on or off,
and accelerate fine like no issue, or if
I turn engine off and later recrank
light may disappear. Its not check
engine light ive seen that it actually
says check engine.

The symbol means Reduced Power to Engine, you can notice that the vehicle does not accelerate as fast as it should. Have the code pull with a code reader to see what is wrong, any auto parts store should do it free.
