Wiring issues

Asked by Sibo Aug 23, 2017 at 10:12 PM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 05 ram 1500 that won't crank. I was
testing the wires with with a test light. I have a wire
running from cylinoid to front left fender and when
I tested it the truck started to crank. I assume I
have a bare wire, but where do these wires run to?

the solenoid is just a relay for the starter , any time you power that up it will crank , for some reason it's not getting power when you hit the key , might be a starter relay , find where they are and you can swap one relay for the other if they are identical and see if that helps , you might hear it click when you hit the key for start
