2005 Dodge Ram 1500 won’t crank

Asked by SgtKevin98 Jan 13, 2020 at 03:30 PM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck is not wanting to crank or start. When I
put the key in the ignition, the dash lights up, the air
works, wipers, headlights, and radio all work, but
when I turn the key to start, it will not crank or
nothing. The low fuel light, brake light, and ABS
lights all come on. The transmission indicator is not
showing which function it’s in. I’ve already put a
brand new starter in it and searched for an anti-
theft device and haven’t found anything. Checked
all my relays, and they are good too. I’m bummed
cause the night before it ran fine, but now won’t
work at all. Any suggestions?

I have had similar problems with my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The problem was with the steering column and a pin that senses the key. The mechanic had to open the steering column and replace the pin. My vehicle also has a theft device incorporated in the car's computer which will not allow it to start if the doors are locked.
