Dodge ram misfire.

Asked by Cfreeman90 Feb 05, 2014 at 06:00 PM about the 2002 Dodge RAM 1500 ST RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My dodge ram has a misfire on
cylinders 3 & 4. The only codes that
pop up are both oxygen sensors.
Codes po 133 and po 138. What's
causing this terrible misfire? It runs
really rough and is very noticeable at
idle. When driving the check engine
light flashes.

Replace both o2 sensors. One is slow response and the other is shorted to power. See how it runs. How do you know it is misfiring on 3 & 4 if the o2's are the only codes?

sounds like a coil pack going bad just hasn't kicked a code yet sometimes it takes a while...can you change coil packs around to see if the codes change?
