Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. The interior headlamp was not in place
and missing a bulb. I purchased the bulb and put it together but it does not shut off. Does
anyone have any suggestions?

The switch needs to be replaced, probably why the bulb was removed.

on your headlight switch there is a dial to the right rotate it down and the dome light should go out .but the dash lights will be dimmed as well .

the switch mentioned above needs to be rotated down one click. that will turn off dome light, yet still leave dash lights all the way up. turning it farther will dim dash lights.

As said, probably bad headlight switch assembly. They are made either with or w/o fog lamp connection.
