Help!!

Asked by Frustratedgirl Mar 05, 2017 at 12:27 AM about the 2002 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Plus Quad Cab LB 4WD

Question type: General

Just got my Ram 1500 out of the shop after the
transmission shop for an occasional "kick" while
driving.  Found something loose in the valve body
and replaced a solenoid pack.  They drove it 200
miles to make sure it was ok.   No problems.  I get
it back and run errands for a ciuple hours and it
slams to a complere stop with squealing tires and
all while im going 40  mph.  Felt like I hit a brick
wall.    What the heck would do this?    Please help!

These transmissions are sky high costing but you need a new one, The only thing I have ever heard of causing a trans to lock up and slide to a stop is a gear breaking or a large chunk of metal getting in between the gears in the trans which is terminal, buy another trans, if used one make sure it is good first, I really do not recommend a rebuilt unit unless it is from a very good builder. A good used one or new.
