2002 Dodge Ram will not shift out of 2nd gear

Asked by Nick Jun 08, 2018 at 02:10 AM about the 2002 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After I replaced the PCM due to an error p0601, the truck will not shift out of 2nd gear. It can go into reverse, neutral, park, and manually into 1st and 2nd but in drive, it will stick in 2nd gear and the rpms will just keep going up until I release the gas pedal. Putting the original PCM in fixes the problem but the p0601 error code comes back. Please help.

When you replaced the PCM did you get it programmedp at the Dodge dealership. If will need to be flashed to software that is appropriate for your vehicle. The PCM is not just plug and play.
