how do I get my hood to open?

Asked by bigjimstruck Mar 10, 2014 at 05:42 PM about the 1999 Dodge RAM 1500 ST Club Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The bottom of the hood latch fell apart in my hands.   If I could see a pic of the latch , I might could figure a way to open and repair it.

there is nothing to pull on. the latch on the 94-01 ram is just like on the 02+. you have to be able to push up on the lever from the bottom. did the whole lever come off? that will make it harder. you will have to go from under the truck and try to push up on the latch. if you have a plastic trim panel behind the bumper, you may have to remove it for access. you might be able to use a coat hanger and push up on it from between the grille and the bumper if the inside release still works.
