Shift great. After some research I found it to
be in limp mode so starting with the
cheapest I stopped on my way home and
bought some relays and once installed 1st
gear returned and everything was fine. I
drove it around for about an hour going
through all gears manually and
automatically I was convinced it was fixed.
Well I left this morning and again no 1st
gear. So I continued about 4 mi. to get my
morning coffee and thougt what the hell so
I pulled the trans relay out and put it right
back in. Jumped in my truck and took off
with 1st gear back and all others working
great all the way to work. About 26 mi. I
believe I have an electrical issue or mabye
need a flash on my pcm?? But im not a
trans guy so any help would be
appreciated. Help!!!!

Does it start off in second?, what does it do when it is manually put in first gear to start off?

I does start off in 2nd gear and will shift through all other gears fine. If I stop and turn my truck off. I pull the transmission relay and put it back in. I then have 1st gear again and it shifts fine the rest of the day to and from work. It will not shift into 1st manually at all until I pull the relay then it will and I can manually shift through all the gears fine. It is almost like the relay is getting stuck but only after sitting over night. Very confusing.

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 4.7 Sport. I recently put in a new/used motor because my old one had a bad crankshaft. So after getting new motor in I started the truck and it ran great.
