I HAVE A 1998 RAM 1500 5.9 L WITH A PO740 CODE AND IT SHIFTS FINE WHEN COLD BUT NOT AFTER IT WARMS UP COULD THE TCC SOLENOID CAUSE IT NOT TO SHIFT OUT OF 2ND GEAR UNLESS I MAKE IT????

THE TRUCK DOES FINE WHEN ITS COLD BUT ONCE IT WARMS UP THE O/D LIGHT COMES ON AND IT WONT SHIFT OUTTA 2ND GEAR UNLESS I GAS ON IT AND LET OFF . IT HAS A PO740 CODE FOR THE TCC SOLENOID . CAN IT KEEP IT FROM SHIFTING OUT OF 2ND????

...I'm going to suggest that your system ground is corroded....to the point where the sensors aren't finding proper ground...undo the bolt that holds the main black 1/0 cable to the chassis ground...wirebrush that lug free of corrosion 'till shiny...then the chassis too....so a steady 300 or more cold cranking amps can get thru there~ You just need good ground connections to the frame and dashboard components, fuel pump, ignition system and the headlights and dash components~....when in doubt TEST for 12.5 or so volts....the GROUND has to be there or the sensors will not be reading correctly~

sounds like a trans issue... not sure if the TCC Silenoid is internal but im sure it is also check the fluid while it was hot and running make sure it is full. I would have it check out soon.. as the longer you wait for work on a trans the more damage it will cause and that = more $... hope this helps
