Did a motor swap on a 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.9 4x4. Now it acts like Tranny isn't shifting and is staying in 3rd.

Asked by dougefresh221 Jul 29, 2015 at 10:17 AM about the 1998 Dodge RAM 1500 ST Club Cab 4WD

Question type: General

Did motor swap.  One wiring harness plug
isn't plugged in can't seem to find it.  Trans
acts as if it isn't shifting. Acts like its in 4
wheel has more torque and no real pickup.
I'm lost as to if it's a vacuum missing or
harness wire or the linkage or if computer
needs reset.  Please help

Motor stayed and yes was same year make and model. I believe it may have pins broke on transmission shift solenoid. As my brother yanked it loose cause motor was hung up when hoisting it out.
