1997 Dodge Ram transmission

Asked by Sherri Jul 28, 2018 at 07:26 PM about the 1997 Dodge RAM 1500 ST Club Cab LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My transmission went out on my truck & I
researched it & found that 97' transmissions
were going out at about 150,000 miles.
Mine did at about 150,200. Would it be
cheaper to buy a new one or have the old
one rebuilt & would a new one or rebuilt one
have the same problem. I'm on disability &
don't have a lot of money to spend on it but
need a vehicle to get to & from Drs and
around town. I told my ex-husband I didn't
want a damn Dodge!!

1 Answer

I have a 97 Ram with 311,297 miles on it and going strong. New transmission 20K miles ago.
