Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9liter that Is having a major issue with the
generator light coming on. So when my truck is in park I can turn on my
heater, lights and other accessories my battery lowers a bit but nothing
major. Now when I drive and stop at a light and put my foot on the break my
lights start to dim and heater kicks down and the gen light turns on. When
taking of from the light giving it gas it turns off and starts to raise. Anyone
have any clue what might be the culprit.

Have the alternator output tested it's probably going to be low, listen to the alternator if it's making a "whining" sound there's most likely a bad rectifyer or stator. Low idle can cause this but I don't think that's your problem.
