Car won't start

Asked by Danielyoung Nov 15, 2016 at 05:47 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Malibu FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 01 Malibu died at a stop light and now won't start. The
engine cranks but doesn't want to start, if I crank it long
enough it will eventually start but dies immediately after. If
I get it started and pin the throttle it gets to about 1000
rpm but dies as soon as I let off the gas. The check
engine light came on and it had a p0300 code for random
misfires. I've replaced the fuel filter, the fuel pressure
regulator, and the ignition control module. I also tested the
fuel pressure and was at 50ish psi when I turned the key
to the on position. The spark plugs look like they have
some gas on them but they aren't fouled and when I
ground them on the frame they spark. I can't think of
anything else that could be wrong that wouldn't throw a
code.
