No Reverse or Fifth gear.

Asked by Jon Nov 07, 2011 at 04:44 PM about the 2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4 Turbo FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

For some reason I cannot get the trans to shift into fifth nor reverse with the shifter. I
can get the first through fifth selection perfectly, and the clutch works perfectly. I
would appreciate input. I just replaced the cables, and shifter bushings with Energy
poly. Not cable bushings, but those were also new on the cables. If someone out
there has an answer, it would be greatly appreciated.

The answer would be a bent shift fork, as 5th and Reverse share a Fork and collar looks like a rebuild from here

Some info that I received states that it may be the shift selector. This would make sense, as the shifter will not spring back left to right while in neutral.
