2002 s10 crew cab 4wd

Drivers side front door latch... not the handle.. the
assembly that locks.. hola door closed...
How do you remove it?
Also.. what switch would control the dash lights?  
It may be a short but dash interior lights go out
with parking brake on.   When i crank it release
brake they were coming on.. now they quit

I'm not sure about the first part, but the dash lights. Have you checked to see if maybe your bulbs have burnt out and tried replacing them? Also be sure to check your fuses. Your fuse box should have a list on the inside of the cover telling you what each one is, you may have to look up what each one is for. But I'd start off there for the dash lights. If it is a fuse and it keeps blowing the fuse after you put another in, check your wiring and make sure the wiring didn't somehow get grounded. I hope this helps a little.
