Speedometer not working n transmission not shifting

I have a 2001 chevy s10 ls 4x4
extended cab it has the 4.3 my issue is
what would make my speedometer not
work n not to shift out of first i
replaced the speed sensor on the
transfer case but I noticed when I give
it gas it don't shift but once I let off the
gas the speedometer works for bout
39 seconds n it shifts but once I apply
gasit doesn't
