does a 2001 chevy cavalier have an emergency gas shut off switch

i have a new fuel pump put on and the fuel pump doesnt kick on

Yes there is a cutoff switch for accidents. Yours is either in the glove box or the trunk on the right under the carpet.

There are a lot of place I looked at that people say Ford is the only manufacturer that has them They are mistaken ..click on the images so you can see them However..your question, the inertia switch does not cut power to the fuel pump, it doesn't work that way, an impact equal to that which will deploy air bags shuts off fuel to help prevent fire

It is an inertia switch it's not labeled in this drawing but it's in there
