Check fuel pump relay, ecm (computer) relay. It is not impossible that you got a bad fuel pump. If you can, have the fuel pressure tested. Even if there is fuel coming out, it must have the correct pressure.

You should get something with starting fluid. Although, if you do that again, use Carb cleaner. It won't wash away lubricants like starting fluid. Is the spark good and blue? If it is white, it is weak if that is the problem it is something in your ignition. Not impossible you got some bad parts there too I am afraid.

You could also test your compression if it is low in all cylinders then you could have a bad timing chain. This will cause exactly your problem. Lots of fuel, lots of spark, but nothing firing at the right time. Hope that's not it!

There are lots of you tube videos on how to test your fuel pressure. You will need a pressure gauge or have someone else do it.

I had the same problem but was able to figur it out relatively quickly for others seeking this info. (I know this is an old thread) Cranks but no start, added gas, still no start. Poured gas into intake, fired and ran until gas ran out. Bought fuel pressure tester, tested at 45 on rail but bled to zero in less than a minute. Bought fuel pump and pressure regulator to replace. Reaplced both, pressure held fine but still no start. Hooked code scanner up and pulled history, and injectors were disabled by passlock. Followed procedure for passlock reset and fired right up. You can test the pressure from the pump without having to replace the regulator and the pump if you have the right connectors (i didnt)

Check for spark. Make sure all fuses and relays are good. When was your last tune up?

Make sure you ground it. Otherwise it won't work. Just a thought

if it is like a situation i had, when you hopped the curb the pump dropped out of the piece of rubber hose in the tank and it cant pull fuel now. go back in the tank.

I have a 97 Chevy s10 4 cylinder, truck stalled on me while on the highway, had it towed to a shop i always go to, they did an inspection and tell me its the timing chain, and engine needs to be taken out or replaced. Today my neighbor who works on cars looks at it, says start it, i turn the key it cranks but wont start, did it a couple of times, he thinks the distributor is either out or not allowing spark, and also said that it couldn't be the timing chain as those are lifetime parts. What you guys think what should i do, i drove this truck for 18yrs, it has new gas tank, fuel filter, brake line, battery, head gasket, tires, brakes (front and back), little rust, but it cranks np just wont start.

I got s10 v6 4.3 98 rwd and i look like its liking from the drivers motor mount side What could be? Any guess

Passlock, the Security system in this generation chevy's requires a specific voltage at a pin on a controller. This voltage is provided by a voltage drop across the ignition switch(im pretty sure the key is the resistor). The reference voltage should be +5vdc, if the shitty Voltage Regulator isn't getting enough +VDC say,+12 from the battery, its output will not be +5vdc, and thus after the resistor the voltage will not be the value that passlock is looking for. Parasitic Drain. Lamps and Radios and Chargers and Cameras, and other things that might get left plugged in may only take a small amount of power to run but will slowly drain the battery over night or days or a month, so that when you get in to start it, the 12 volts isn't there and the computers care, but meh, fuel pumps and starters will operate at this voltage. If your truck dies for no reason on the highway, and you've got loads of watts being used by accessories and entertainment. I would first look at the charging system.

Edit: After saying this out loud, I came to the conclusion that Chevy did not infact choose to use a Voltage Regulator, That reference voltage is instead provided by a voltage divider and thus is a ratio of the Source Voltage. Had they chosen to use an extremely cheap Voltage regulator, anything above ~5.7 volts would be enough to regulate to +5.
