1997 chevy s10 4.3 vortex
Ac clutch might be sticking in the engauge position. When having a starting issue. Have friend crank while you see if the compressor is turning. I am taking about the middle of the compressor no the the pulley. The pulley will turn but the compressor should not
How would i fix it.
Well. It could be that current it present at the AC compressor when it shouldn't be or it could be that the clutch is suck in the on position. If clutch is suck. The easiest way to fix it would be a new compressor ( you might be able to just replace the clutch ). Is the you have power at the clutch when you should not have. It could be the A.C. relay sticking in the on position. I have sen both problems. To test it you could unplug the connector to clutch when it will not start and see if it will then start. If it does then check the relay to see if it is sticking on. Once you unplug the clutch connector. Try to spin the front on the compressor by hand. Not the pulley that the belt is on but the front on the compressor. If it will not spin with the connector unplugged. It is most likely stuck in the engaged position. Then if that is what is going on. Easy way is to put compressor on. Hope this helps
