Starter click

1995 s10 Manuel trans. Steering column is broken
and there's a toggle switch and a button to start
truck. Bought it like that. Was working fine until I
replaced starter. Now starter sometimes clicks and
sometimes nothing. New batteries also. Also when
I push clutch all the way down the starter clicks
like if I'm trying to start it. Any suggestions please

make sure the batt terminals are tight , check any other connections and wiring , any customized wiring should be soldered
