Question type: General

have a 95 chevy s10 that all of a sudden, as i was going out, wouldnt turn over on its own. i have to step
on the gas and keep it on in order for it to stay on. even so, after its on it rattles and sounds horrible. as
soon as i let go of the gas it shuts off. if i keep it on for about 2 min, i notices a bit of smoke coming from
around the heads in lower part of the engine.

head gaskets seem to be gone, coolant could be leaking out from the heads and onto the hot engine block. do you hear a "knock" or a "tick" when the engine is running? and by the way dont try to start the truck again while flooring it. you`ll blow the engine if it isnt already blown

yes it ticks and knocks, not flooring it, i lightly pressed on the gas pedal in order to listen to it. do you suggest that i just rebuild my engine since it might be damaged or just change the gaskets?

Get someone to look at it for a second opinion. Find out what is making the smoke. Pull the spark plugs and see if there is oil or coolant on them. I would even suggest a compression test before putting a wrench on it

if its knocking and ticking it sounds like the engine might be done. But i would deffinately do what tenspeed said and have someone look at it. if the engine is blown, replacing the gaskets wont do anything. the best option would get another truck. my personal opinion.

I hear ticking in the engine and when I give it gas it ticks faster what do you think that can be
