2001 blazer

Asked by JaxsonOmally Jan 26, 2019 at 01:13 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 blazer. My blazer
cold starts no problem in the
morning but after she's been
running for a while the other times
throughout the day that i start it i
need to give it gas or it doesn't
fully turn over. Just a "rin rin rin rin
rin" The problem code reads that
my fuels running rich.. Wtf does
that mean? Replace distribution
cap? Replace my fuel injection
system?  Someone please help.
Im not as mechanically inclined
as i wish i was. Im more of a
hanes manual and youtube videos
problem solver and would
appreciate some expert advice.

The text below is for po172. Your fuel system is running rich for some reason. Trying to start pressing down on the foot pedal may put the system in clear flood mode, it cuts back on the fuel. I usually use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, key on engine off. Once the correct pressure builds, turn off the key, see if pressure holds for a bit. If the pressure drops like a rock, you have a fuel pressure leak and the first thing I suspect is a fuel injector leaking. I don't consider myself an expert, just like trying to answer automotive questions. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm not.

Could be a faulty o2 sensor your code should read rich on bank 1or2 need to see that is sensors are in range and that exhaust is clean clogged muffler can give this code as well . If your fuel trim I'd indeed way negative then you could have high fuel pressure over 61lbs maf not reading correctl each system affects the next. Look at each banks fuel trim and with scan tool set to meeting look at your maf and map readings Live data. If your fuel trim is only negative on one bank then I would suspect an injector. But with out the data I could not say
