Is it possible for coolant to get into the Intake manifold and be coming out of the throttle body on a 2006 Honda Odyssey 3.5L engine?

Asked by Jul 30, 2017 at 08:30 AM about the 2006 Honda Odyssey EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Installed new engine and now getting coolant in #2 and 4 cylinders and out of throttle body/This is an engine from Jasper Engines which we have been using for 20 years with no issues/Thinking that heads are the issue but coolant out throttle body is unusual/How can coolant be getting into intake?

V type engines usually have a coolant cross over passage in the intake manifold. With coolant getting into cylinders 2 & 4 I'd suspect a head gasket problem or cracked head. Those two cylinders are next to each other and that's a classic symptom of a head gasket failure. How's the compression on those two cylinders? If it's very low or zero it's the head gasket. Once you determine that, call Jasper and tell them you have a defective engine. HTH. -Jim
