2006 honda crv engine noise

My engine makes a noise under power like a valve tap or preignition.
The service tech could not give me an answer.He said they did not receive any service notice on this problem.

Sounds a wee bit familiar. Had the alternator go out on my 2004 CRV, and just happened to notice a slight ticking sort of sound, when the radio was off. Heard it in time to drive it in for the repair. A good old 'shade tree mechanic' could diagnose the particular problem by holding a stick against the alternator housing and listening via the stick! Sometimes, it isn't necessary to have a computer!
