Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 escape hybrid.  Today all the sudden it said check emissions system and
the car will not accelerate.  The gas engine runs, but the car will only move under the
acceleration of the electric engine.  Anyone had this before?

Check Engine Light With Code P0442, P0456, and/or P1450 Exhaust & Emissions -- Verified The Check Engine Light may illuminate with code P0442, P0456, and/or P1450. These codes are related to the EVAP system. Our technicians tell us that if no EVAP system faults are confirmed, updated software is available for the powertrain control module (PCM) which should correct this concern You need to take it to the dealer so they can re-flash the PCM.
