Theft light flashing

Question type: General

I just replaced the ignition switch on my 2006 Ford
Taurus SE. Now the theft light blinks weather the
keys are in it or not. I have to put the original key
around the ring for the new Switch with keys to
start. What would cause the light be flashing
whether it's got a key in it or running or not?

the key has a transponder that sends a signal to the computer to allow the car to start and I believe it's even more complicated than that ,, all these things have to match , you probably have to go to the dealer to get it straightened out

PATS system (anti thief) you have a chip in the key and the key is married to the pcm dealer would have to reprogram the new key to the pcm or carry the original key all times ... Hope this helps
