06 taurus,check charging system

Asked by Brandon Aug 09, 2017 at 04:58 PM about the 2006 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My fiance's check charging system keeps going on and off
while driving. Today it died in an intersection then started
back up after a minute.  The alternator is relatively new and
ive got 14 volts when idling.  I have not checked fuse 26 yet
but will do that this evening.  Any other possibilities?

Loose/corroded grounds, broken signal wire to alternator, fuse, alternator. Aftermarket alternators have been a nightmare. I'm having the exact issue you're having on an old 98 taurus. Nothing new. You'd think Ford would have fixed this issue by now.
