What causes my dashboard gages to
go down to 0 and my idiot lights to
come on?  The speedometer, RPM
Gage, and cruise control work.

A couple of things. Whacko clusters point to a bad ignition switch. The cruise control will not work IF there are certain pending check engine codes stored and or lit. Meaning if the problem is fixed (check engine code), the cruise will work again.

Trailblazer instrument clusters are famous for going bad. Actually most GM trucks from 2003 to 2007 have this problem. A bad instrument cluster is the most likely problem. Which gauges drop to 0? If it's just the oil pressure. You need to ave the oil pressure checked. The 4.2 Inline six is also famous for losing oil pressure.

THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS. IT WAS THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THAT OBVIOUSLY WAS BAD. HAD A REMOTE START PUT IN. THE GUY MESSED IT ALL UP. HAD NO CLUE WHAT HE WAS DOING. HE SHORTED IT OUT.
