2004 f250 4x4 xl

My f250 in not charging the
battery the alternator is new and
has been tested so is the battery
the only problems I can see is
battery light in the instrument
cluster won't turn on check the
bulb it's good checked all the
fuses they're all good fusible links
are all checked and good the only
other off thing is the short wire
from the regulator to the
alternator you showing around 12
volts instead of 6 volts I don't
know why it's doing that or why
the light won't work does anyone
have any ideas cuz I'm at a loss

I assume that's what he has. I say defective alternator showing an output, but it's not enough. The EXACT thing is happening to my friend's 04 250 RIGHT now. I ordered a rebuilt one for him and will install it when it arrives. I don't think it's the battery, I think it's the thing NOT charging the battery, that SHOULD be, that's the issue. Charge the battery fully with a digital charger, those old timey analog ones are ridiculous. Hook it up, change the alternator, try again. Also, make sure your grounds are good too.
