Battery trouble

Recently got a 1990 ford f250 4.6l efi when I went to drive it
home after picking it up the trucks battery seemed to drain
as I drove when I finally got it home I looked and the
termainal for the positive side we rotted almost to nothing I
changed it then when I went to jump start it using another
vehicle the clamps would heat almost cherry red but my
truck wouldn't receive any power and when it would receive
power trying to jump it it try and start on it's own with no
key in the ignition an the clamps to the jumper cables
would still turn cherry red any idea as to what could be the
reason ky truck went accept the jump start and why the
battery is acting up
