My 2005 Ford F150 4x4 won't start. Just hear a clicking sound when I turn the key. Lights work. Is this the battery or alternator?

pull off the battery terminals and clean terminals and clamps down to shiny metal. reinstall, try to start.
If your vehicle has a fender mounted solenoid near the battery, jump it for a second only. If the engine spins, the solenoid is probably bad.

Sounds like a bad ground for interior instrument panel. It's under the hood release handle. Probably rusty there. Fords are bad about it. Had the same problem on my dad's 2005 ford f150.
