can't get the passenger window to go up or down with driver switch

Asked by Jeffm6942 Aug 09, 2015 at 12:06 PM about the 2004 Ford F-150 Lariat Ext. Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2004 f-150 lariat supercab
Can't get passenger window to go up or down using driver's master switch.  I have replaced switch multiple times and it will work for a while then nothing.  Checked inside boot on both doors found no broken wires to the eye.  The passenger door switch will operate window no problem...just master switch.  All other windows operate from master switch with out issue.
Seems to be a matter of power or "signal" from master switch getting to the motor for passenger window.
Any suggestions?

Probably a problem with the driver's door switch or wiring. Have a close look at the wiring where it plugs into the driver's door switch. Also, only replace switches with new ones from your local Ford dealer.

I have checked the wires near plug and moved them while holding down the passenger switch...nothing. Do the same to all other windows and they move up or down no issue. I think its the switch as I said it's happened before. I just can't understand why Ford window switches are such a problem! My brother had an 05 STX and had the same issue. He has since traded for a 08 350 and has had to replace two switches already... Love my truck but cheap switches!!!! Do you know which color wires are for which switches? With 8 wires on the switch I'm guessing one wire per direction/window?

I don't have any info on which wires go to which window.

New switch and motor on passenger side of my 1999 Ford f150 no wires are broken. So what's the problem? Thanks
