Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello. I have a 04 F-150 5.4l with 130k miles on it. the truck started to run a little rough the other day and then died and wouldnt restart. The truck has a few dtcs, P0191 P0190 and P300 random misfire. the other fuel pressure codes i read was a common fuel pump module. sure enough i went under my truck and found the old one had rotted a hole in the module and cracked in half. I ordered a new dorman unit with standoffs to keep it away from the from. After i Plugged the new unit in the truck atleast starts now, but still hesitates and stalls and the low fuel pressure dtc P0191 came back. The truck will idle but if i give it gas quick it stalls and studders bad. Could it be a fuel pump? or am i missing something else? Seems weird that it had 2 problems at the same time, but thats module had to be bad with the hole rotted in the back of it and it atleast starts now with the new one. Thank you for the help
Jon

Jim, Thank you for the fast response. Just a update i was going to try to mess with it this morning and now the truck wont start again. it just cranks over but wont start. maybe the fuel module wasn't shot yet, even though it was rotted maybe it was still working at the time and i have another problem. Fuel pump maybe? or are there electronic issue that could cause the furl pump not to turn on besides the fuel pump module? thank you for your help Jon

I just realized that you could monitor fuel pressure via a scan tool, I plugged in a scantool and key on just sitting i have 0 psi and under cranking i only go up to .9 psi. any thoughts? Thanks

I have a question. Have a 5.4. It is throwing a code p0191. Fuel pressure sensor. Runs good till about 2,500-3000 rpm then it falls on its face. If I down shift or hit the gas to try and get power it will act like a engine break till 2.5- 3k rpm and spit, sputter. Can't afford to throw parts at it. Any idea's? F.P.S. or fuel pump etc

I sure would like to know the outcome of all this! I’ve been dealing with this for some time now, I’ve read and read and read on here, I’ve seen every single tread on here 5 to 6 times, I don’t know what else to do, my 2004 F150 5.4 is driving me insane
