Chevy Impala shuts off

I have a 02' impala that shuts off while idling and
coming to a stop. The steering wheel and the
breaks lock up on me. I don't know what could be
wrong. I can't afford a car note on a new car

If the check engine light is on , then get the vehicle scanned for any trouble codes. This will let you know what is going on. Also write down any trouble codes you may find.
