my engine is ticking. my husband said don't get an oil change. just put oil treatment in it

First, make sure you HAVE oil. Doesn't just start ticking out of no where, unless something bad is about to happen.

Change your oil but leave out one quart and add a bottle of Lucas Engine Oil Stabilizer the tap will go away because I have seen and heard it for myself and it really works.

Get a new husband as he is wrong. The problem needs to be repaired. The magic stuff in a can is almost always a waste of money.

You said the magic word Bob almost always because I have used it and it has worked great that is why I recommend it. It may not work from them no harm no foul and not expensive to try but if it does work don't you think it's worth a try.

@firebird, the problem you and I have here is that we can not lay eyes and ears on these problems. Certainly a sticky lifter can sometimes be helped with an additive, but any clearance issue, oil pressure issue or noisy timing chain issue is not going to be helped.

You do not know unless you give it a try very inexpensive way to find out if it will work or or not.

Sea Foam brand additive stops the factory ticking that almost all Mazda make. It is a cleaner and does something else that I can not explain, but my engine went from (needs a rebuild) to (sounds like a new engine).

I would NOT put any additives as these cars use synthetic oil.

Ck color of oil with tissue and see stick for fullness. If oil is black =worn out and must be changed. If brown=ok. If none or low=leak, fill with cheap oil to find leak, get 2 to 3 estimates for leak repair. If brown and full add 8 oz bottle STP oil additive = for quiet. Danger if no oil pressure on guage: Do not drive: oil pump bad.

Did you divorce his ass yet. If it's has think oil in it it was done on purpose so it won't knock.

I was told by Chevrolet the ticking noise it is the electric fuel pump cause I took it in for that same noise, so if all of them are doing it, that's probably not the oil , changing the oil is not gonna stop a ticking if there is something wrong with it and don't add other oil products to fix the ticking, ur probably gonna give it a whole new tick lmao

ok thank for the great advise, my oil is full and just replaced the gasket because I did have a leak, Bad! I'm going to just see how it works, if it gets worse I'll have it checked it's been a great car the last 8 years.
