Could the fuel pump be out on my Impala?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 3.4 liter, six-cylnder engine Impala.  It will not start.  I don't think it's the computer.  Could it be my fuel pump?  When I turn on the engine, it tries to turnover and the lights and electric do go on.  When the key is in the on position, I can raise and lower the windows, etc.

What could be the problem?  Could it be the fuel pump?

If you can hear the engine turning over, but nothing firing, it's probably electrical. The possibilities are pretty much endless. Plug the spark plug leads into a spare plug and turn the motor over and see if it fires. If they're not, something in the ignition system is failed.

Check the fuel filters, they may be plugged, but they should not be so that you don't get a bit of an attemped start. If you have gunk in the lines and the filters are blocked, chances are the FI system and injectors are also plugged somewhat. It sounds electrical though.
