Asked by Jbittmam Aug 03, 2016 at 02:02 PM about the 2002 Ford F-150 XLT 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Couple of days ago my vehicle was losing power as i was
driving so i pulled off to the side of the road and turned my
truck off. Turned the truck back on and hears click click. So
i replaced the battery and it worked for a few days. Then
yesterday had the alternator checked and it was only
putting out 11.4 volts. So i replaced that and now the truck
will start but wont stay running. It will start up then shut
back off. I have an 02 ford with the 5.4. Any help here
would be amazing thanks.

Check all connections and double check to make sure you didn't accidentally disconnect a sensor and check air filter.

Update: there was 2 hoses coming off of my air intake that run towards the back of the engine and there was too much air getting into the intake so i reconnected those and it started up and stayed running.

Seems the pollution control system on the vehicle is working properly.
