brakes

Asked by GuruTWDYM Jun 17, 2018 at 04:32 PM about the 2001 Ford F-150 XLT Extended Cab 4WD LB

Question type: General

I drove with emergency brake for a mile partially on. Could smell brake at first but now can't. I felt the lever where the emergency brake hooks on wasn't releasing all the way so I taped the lever as wife pulled the lever and it definitely moved more. When it felt the travel was done I stopped tapping the lever. So was wondering if this was the right thing to do. Drums do still get hot but can't smell the brakes. I also checked my car and the disc also get hot. So I feel everything is good. Thanks for your help.

Maybe the E brake cable should be replaced or lubricated. Your disks get hot when you use them which is normal.
