what kind of ignition do I switch
with does the key have to get
linked to anything. Or does it need
something special

IMO .. you will need to reprogram the new key to your cars "transponder" .. Some people have been successful with holding the old key very close to the new key when starting ,, then follow the procedure to reprogram to new ignition key found in Wiki
