1998 f150 v8 truck turns over but will not start. what's wrong?

1998 F150 will not start unless I pour gas straight into fuel injectors.

my 150 did this so i turn the key on then off twice then try to start it. This seems to shoot gas in so it can fire, hope it helps

Defective fuel pump, bad fuel pump relay / control, plugged fuel filter are a couple of possible causes.
