I have a '95 `F-150. I can only get fuel out of the rear fuel tank.

Asked by yankeegramps Mar 01, 2014 at 02:26 PM about the 1998 Ford F-150 STD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I switch to front tank, the flow stops. When I return to rear tank the flow returns. I have checked the fuse(s), all good there. Is there a plugged line? Where?

Front tanks pump is probably bad and needs to be replaced.

Not saying dandyoun is not right, but my 85 Chevy was having the same problem. Fortunately for me, I replaced my toggle on the dash and that cured the problem. There is also a tank selector valve that could also be malfunctioning. If you research Ebay you can pick up a new toggle for under $20 and a new selector valve for $45. When I try and narrow down a problem I always start with the cheapest part first. Nothing worse than replacing the most expensive part, only to find out it was the cheapest one giving you all the hassle.

Often it's the pump but the selector valve is a possibility. @Reelin68: if you can find a selector valve that works for any Ford - especially a 6 port for $45 , I'll eat my hat.

In my 95 f150 I can drive with rear tank selected and it runs great. When I let it sit for a while in rear tank it will not start. Then I shift to front tank and let fuel pump stop. The truck starts right up and runs goos ?????
